1. It reduces stress and anxiety:

Singing releases hormones called Endorphins. It is a kind of hormones that increase feelings of joy and pleasure. As a result, this will decrease stress and anxiety. Both of these hormones can make you feel better in general and lessen any pain you might be feeling.

2. It helps your facial muscles, your diaphragm, and your intercostal muscles:

The actual technique of singing from the diaphragm can boost your abdomen and back muscles. The movement of your facial muscles is also unique when you sing, which can make your face look more active and lively. Plus, the groups of muscles running between the ribs that help shape and move the chest wall–will receive quite the workout as well as you sing.

3. It helps your memory.

Even though sometimes you can’t always remember all of the lyrics to your favorite songs, still you have to use your memory to memorize some of the lyrics. This is one excellent way to keep your brain functioning well as you age.

4. Singing helps with sleep

Singing can help reinforce throat and palate muscles, which will help you to stop snoring and sleep apnoea. Singing is an exercise that helps to stop both chronic snorings and sleep apnoea, which causes people to stop breathing during deep sleep. This means that singing is an exercise to make up have a good night sleep!

 5. Singing enhances cognition

There are several studies that have concluded that singers and musicians tend to have higher IQs than non-musicians. Singing can help develop your overall brain function and help you think a clearer and faster.

Taking the first step into playing musical instruments, most people will want to buy themselves cheap musical instrument thinking it’ll save their money while they’re just the beginner.

But is it truly good for you?

While it might be good (If we’re talking about money here) but there’re also downfalls of it. Here we’ll talk about Reasons why top quality is better

Fender

-Materials: there’s no cheap musical instrument which used a top quality material to build (If there’s, then how could the creator benefits from selling it?). The simple sample would be a guitar if it’s built with cheap materials, imagine the woods that easily break, the strings that might actually cut your finger (just kidding! LOL), wouldn’t it be hard to play?

-Sound: of course! the sound will be different between a cheap and a good quality. So, if you’re a beginner and you’re trying to play songs from your favorite artists the answer is, you might not like the result that much (because an artist uses a good quality instrument)

-Money: yes, this point used to be the advantage of getting a cheap instrument (plot twist!). This point is here because just like the point we’ve mentioned above. This kind of instrument is easily broken or damaged, so if it can be fixed you’ll have to spend your money keep fixing it (you probably have to spend more money than when you’ve bought it). Maybe it’s too damaged to be fixed and you started to get sick of this kind of instruments and want to buy a good quality one now. That means you’ve spent money two times on buying the same musical instrument.

So, maybe try and get the best quality musical instrument that is affordable for you and fit your level (This should be a good choice :D)

Learning how to play musical instruments for free or cheaper price – who wouldn’t love that?

But are you sure that it’s the best choice for you? Of course, in order for you to decide properly, you need more information about this. In fact, here we’re about to tell you a list of Pros and Cons of self-taught Music

Pros

Money: If you’re spending on lessons online, then it won’t cost you as much as paying for school fees. Sometimes, you don’t even have to spend a penny to teach yourself how to play an instrument.

Anytime you want: If you’re your own teacher, then you can arrange your study schedule according to whenever you like. Maybe you’ll be busy for these two whole weeks, so you can just do other things first, right? You can teach yourself later when you feel like it.

Comfort zone: You don’t have to show anyone how you can make mistakes in playing the instrument, so you don’t have to be embarrassed. You can show them how you play after you’ve mastered the skill, right?

Cons

Who will evaluate your work: What if you’ve made a mistake without even realizing it? Who will correct it for you? Even if you’ve come to realize your own mistakes, but don’t you think it will take sometimes for you to know that?

Procrastination: Remember, we’re only doing our homework because our teacher will check it. Without teacher and proper schedule, we tend to delay and delay our practice and lessons. We will just get back to practice whenever we want.

Demotivating: When you start to feel like you’ve lost track or you don’t know what step you need to take next, you might start to lose your interest. Gradually, you might end up choosing to cast your lessons away even though you know it yourself that you would love to master it.

Music School Workshops by SoundsKool – at ELT

Here at the latest workshops (June 2016) from our tour of ELT Schools – those include the ELT Institute as well as the Elementary, Primary & Secondary campuses too!

It was great fun, and had a great response from students and parents. Even the school teachers were at it.

We showed both  guitar and keyboard courses, helped by SoundsKool music teachers, with many students excited to have the chance to hold or touch those for the first time. It was great to see Khmer children and teens have a passion for music and we wouldn’t be surprised if many of those will pick up an instrument in the future.

Some time ago, one of our teachers – drummer Matthew Millar – held an interview with Khmer Times. An interesting short read if you have time.
